Receiver retains 95% original high luster blue overall with a few handling marks.  Barrel and tube retain 95% original blue, thinning very slightly on the magazine tube.  Wood is excellent with light handling marks and a ding in the forend on the left side at the top.  Excellent bore with sharp rifling.  There is a very slight ring in the bore just behind the front sight with a barely discernable bulge to the barrel.  To be honest, we almost missed it completely.  Good case colors on the hammer, lever, and buttplate.  This gun has some dried grease on it.  Proper folding tang sight.  There are some dings in the edge of the barrel flats just under the rear sight, along with some finish wear just after the end of the rear sight.  Original front sight. First year of production, model 1889 made in 1889.  24 inch octagon barrel.  Model 1889 Marlin rifles are scarce, being made for 10 years with a total production of 55,072 guns.  To find a first year of production gun, especially with any amount of original finish is even harder.  This is a really super gun!  Serial number is 29931.
