I'm trying to find this exact lock pictured in Murphy & Madau's book on Confederate Carbines & Musketoons, formerly owned by Frank Sellers. Serial number 1416. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. There were only a total of 5 of these guns made, factory engraved and of rifle length. So far, only one example of a complete gun is known which has been referred to as the Van Rensaler gun and was part of the Clifford Young collection. I've since found the front half of another one, which has the matching serial number to this specific lockplate. Any leads or help would be greatly appreciated. Please let us know!!
